St Andrew's Church Morning Market 29th November 2008

At the well-attended Morning Market planning meeting held earlier this week, the following issues were discussed and agreed upon.

ROSTER

A Roster will be introduced and placed at the back of the Church in the next few weeks. Parishioners are asked to sign up for half-hour or one hour slots at a stall of their choice. We wish to encourage wider participation and to allow stall holder some time to enjoy other morning market activities.

PARKING

Secure parking has been arranged in the car park of the Grove Primary sports field in Norfolk Road for about 20 cars. It is but a short walk to / from St Andrews and should alleviate some of the pressures of parking.

RAFFLES

A number of stall run raffles for smaller prizes and this will continue. However, a raffle with a few large prizes (such as luxury hampers, a weekend get-away, theatre tickets, etc) is proposed. If anyone can sponsor or suggest prizes and donors for this raffle, please contact Andreas Nel.

YOUTH focus.

The intention is draw more youths into getting involved. The Pump Station area will be allocated for youth activities. Youths are also needed to assist at stalls (e.g. the Food Court is looking for youths to sell food items). Please encourage your teens to become involved.

STALL REQUESTS

If you can help with any of the following requests, please contact the appropriate stall convenor.

PLANT STALL

New convenors Steph and John welcome your help in potting plants to bring in during the week before the market. Drop off at the parish office plant pots of all sizes; a day or two before the market cut rose buds and flowers and we need two or three helpers on the day. Please phone Steph Saunders on (021) 674 1518 or John Burton on (021) 689 2433 with your encouraging offers of help wherever you can.

JEWELLERY STALL

Jenny Ross needs the following items – in addition to jewellery items – hats, bags, belts, shawls, coats / jackets, etc.

SECOND-HAND BOOKS

Liz Murray still needs many more books. Please clear your bookshelves and bring all your unwanted books to the parish office or leave at the back of church.  Thank you!

FOOD COURT

Alan Bramwell and his team are looking for young people to sell pancakes, cooldrinks, hamburgers, bacon and banana sandwiches, etc. Roving vendors are being considered, especially in the Kiddies Corner section.

KIDDIES CORNER

Caroline Elliott would like sponsored activities for children and teenagers. Donated prizes are also welcome.

SECOND HAND LINEN

Nicole Ricketts is looking for donated linen. Helpers are also required and they can put their names down on the Roster.

WHITE ELEPHANT STALL

More goods are required. Please scour your attics, garages, cellars and store rooms for any unwanted goods. Contact Nigel Gwynne-Evans or leave items with Pat in the Office.

TOYS

Debbie Emery needs more toys for girls and boys of all ages.

TEA GARDEN

Snack-sized eats (small cakes, sandwiches, quiches, etc.) are required on the day. If you can supply any eats, please let Shirley Wegner know what you will bring so that she knows what to expect.

THE CHRISTMAS STALL workers have been meeting regularly for some months making beautiful items to sell. If you have anything Christmassy which could be used [ fabric, decorations, candles, etc] please bring to parish office or talk to Sheena Mann on 021 715 0102 after hours.

GENERAL REQUESTS

1. Equipment

There is a general need for Gazebos and Umbrellas by a number of stalls. If you can help, please contact Ian Bailey.

2. Raffle prizes.

If you can donate a prize or suggest donors for our main raffle (weekend get-away, luxury food hamper items, theatre tickets, a litre of petrol, return flights to Paris, a helicopter flight around the Peninsula etc.), please contact Andreas Nel.

If you have any suggestions that would make our Morning Market a great success and an enjoyable experience for everyone, please let me know. A list of stall convenors appears on the reverse side of this notice. Please feel free to contact a convenor if you can assist in any way. Thank you.
