Morning Market 2009

The Morning Market continues to be a highlight of the year at St Andrew’s. Saturday 28th November was a stunningly beautiful day.  I think that you will all agree that it was one of our most enjoyable and successful markets ever. Trevor Wegner our convenor must be given special mention for his vision in spreading our stalls into the Bishop’s garden thereby giving us more space and providing a much better flow of people through the church and into the gardens. We are very grateful to Bishop Garth and his wife Marion for allowing us the use of the garden.

The theme for the decoration of the church was ‘The Season of Creation’. As usual it was magnificent and it carried the important message of preserving and cherishing the wonders of the creation. I have never seen so many children at the morning market as this year. They had an amazing range of activities and Caroline Elliott must be commended for her organising skills and hard work.   An unusual attraction was the visit of the ‘Snake Man’-  from all accounts he was a great hit.

The White Elephant stall had a tough time managing the early rush of customers. It was so overwhelming that we will have to do a rethink for next year.   Despite these difficulties the amount generated so far after expenses is
over R107 000.  Money is still coming in at the time of writing so this is not a final figure.

Thank you to you all for the hard work you have done. The spirit of the Morning Market is so positive and it is so encouraging that all this money is all given to needy causes.
