Baptism Course

The baptism course is run for parents who would like to have their children baptized and for adults who have not themselves been baptized and who have come to faith in Christ. There are usually four courses each year. The course is for one hour each week and it takes place in the vestry from 8-9pm. The following is an outline of the contents

  • Week 1 – What is baptism? We look at passages from the New Testament which help to explain the meaning of baptism.

  • Week 2 – What does it mean to be a Christian? With the help of the booklet ‘Why Jesus’ by Nicky Gumbel we explore what it means to be a Christian.

  • Week 3 – The Christian Family. How do we live together in our families so that our children grow up to be Christ followers?

  • Week 4 – The baptism service. What is the meaning of the promises that we make to God when we or our children are baptized.

  • Week 5 - A brief interview with each couple to clarify questions raised and prepare for the baptism. All baptism’s take place during the 9.00am service.
